Indy Gateway joined community leaders, local partners, and residents to celebrate the official ribbon cutting for the new B&O Trailhead, marking another milestone in the west side’s ongoing investment in parks, connectivity, and quality of life.

The new Chapel Rock Trailhead expands access to the B&O Trail, creating a safe and welcoming space for walkers, runners, and cyclists. The project reflects years of collaboration between Indy Gateway, the B&O Trail Association, Wayne Township leadership, and local sponsors committed to enhancing outdoor recreation opportunities in the community.

“The trail connects more than just neighborhoods – it connects people,” said Lisa Bentley, Executive Director of Indy Gateway. “This trailhead is a gathering place that celebrates the spirit and energy of our west side.”

The ribbon cutting included remarks from community partners, a short trail walk, and recognition of the organizations whose support made the project possible. Indy Gateway continues to champion stabilization and rejuvenation of the west side of Indianapolis through community and economic development. We do this by promoting economic growth, increasing opportunities for the revitalization of neighborhoods, and making the west side of Indianapolis a place where families want to live, work and play.
